The Young Women’s Leadership Institute (YWLI) is a coalition of organizations that seeks to meet the aspirations of young women. YWLI supports college students by (1) increasing awareness of local and national leadership programs, (2) offering mentoring connections to local women, and (3) organizing occasional conferences or other events. YWLI encourages college students to become mentors to high-school and middle-school girls.
Mission: YWLI serves as an umbrella organization to coordinate, promote, and develop college women leaders in Northern New York. YWLI provides a centralized resource and referral center for member collaboration and communication about women’s leadership.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in planning meetings and other logistics associated with the upcoming 2015 Community Connections Conference on November 6 & 7. In addition, SLU students will serve as mentors for young women in the Canton Central School District for at least one hour per week throughout the semester.
