Commencement Roundup
A total of 551 degrees will be awarded at today's
ceremony. There are 506 candidates for bachelors' degrees, 38 candidates
for the Master of Education degree and seven Certificates of Advanced
Studies in education will be granted.
The five most popular majors this year are, in
descending order:

The same majors were the top five in 2006, in exactly the same
order.
The senior with the highest cumulative grade-point
average over four full years of study at St. Lawrence is Kimberly
Chase Reardon, a resident of Colton; her GPA is 3.991 (out of
a possible 4.0).
It is a tradition at St. Lawrence for graduates
to have the option of
receiving their degree from family members associated with the
University. Several of today's candidates will receive degrees
from relatives:
- Elizabeth Burns received her degree from her

- Salvatore Cania III received his degree from his mother,

Immediately following today's Commencement ceremony,
three students will be commissioned into the United States Army,
having participated in the Reserve Officers Training Corps program
through Clarkson University.
- James Cox, of Black River, NY, commissioned as a Second Lieutenant,
Field Artillery Branch
- Christopher Kittle, of Westfield, NY, commissioned as a Second
Lieutenant, Signal Corps Branch
- James Padgette, of Albany, NY, commissioned as a Second Lieutenant,
Field Artillery Branch
The Class of 2007 includes a set of twins, both
of whom graduate today summa cum laude, with highest honors. Kelli
Ra Holmstrom (B.A., honors in English) and
Laci Ree Holmstrom (B.A., honors in history) are from Bemidji,
Minnesota.
