Canton Community Trip

Sign-Up for Canton Community Trip

The goal of this pre-trip is to acquaint new students with the town of Canton, in order for them to become more aware of the community outside of St. Lawrence. Students will arrive at St. Lawrence on Thursday, August 22, by 12:00pm. That afternoon the students will spend time giving back to the community through service at local organizations. The students will then reconvene for dinner to experience one of the many restaurants in the Canton Community. After dinner the students will go to “The American” movie theatre to watch a movie (TBD). Saturday’s main activity will be a large scavenger hunt, where students must explore some of the sites and venues in Canton. The winning team of the scavenger hunt will receive a gift certificate to a local eatery.

Dates: August 22-24
Number of (possible) participants: 8
Cost: $150.00

This trip is organized and led by upper-class students from the Community Mentor Program.  Community Mentors work as community liaisons for the Center for Civic Engagement at SLU and have experience and knowledge of the local community.  They will share this knowledge with incoming first-year students so their time at SLU is enhanced through different forms of community engagement.
