Class of 2016

Welcome from President William L. Fox '75

To the Class of 2016:

As you prepare to join the St. Lawrence community, I want to talk about “social networking.”

We learn best face-to-face. Our community is built on this close-up and intense premise. While we use the most powerful technologies available, we remind you that our daily work must always be personal. At St. Lawrence, your face matters, not your Facebook page. We expect you to turn from Facebook connections and relationships to face-time conversations.

Class of 2016 - Thinking About Spring

Dear Members of the Class of 2016,

Fall semester is nearly half over, and it’s already time to think about the spring and the selection of your First-Year Seminar (FYS). FYSs are taught by a single faculty member and are on a wide variety of topics. They continue to develop your college-level communication skills, focusing specifically on research skills. Some might even count for departmental and/or distribution/diversity credit.

Clone of Information for Your Arrival

CHECKING-IN:  Check-in begins at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 26th and continues until 3:00 p.m.  When you arrive on campus, you should check in at your residence hall building.  See the enclosed letter for the name of your building. At check-in, you will receive your SLU ID/meal card and room combination.

Recipe From Home

"Mom's and Dad's Recipes Go to College." That's how Joan Lunden of Good Morning America introduced a feature story on our parent recipe program. We have even published a cookbook of favorite parents' recipes.

We invite you to join the program. We're always searching for new ideas for our dining hall menus. Often we hear students say, "My Mom makes the best spaghetti I ever had!", or "Why can't you make barbecued chicken as well as Dad can?" In 1987, we began to take students at their word. We invited parents to send recipes from home and the result has been terrific!
