The Community-Wide Account

A Community-Wide Account (CWA) is a declining-balance account that can be used to pay for goods and services at Brewer Bookstore, dining service locations, Stafford Fitness Center/Outdoor Programs, vending machines (limited to a maximum of $20 per day), and participating off-campus vendors. The CWA can also be used for payment of miscellaneous charges on a student account and for sales by student groups for apparel, registration fees, sale of tickets for campus events and donations to charities/class gifts. The minimum deposit into a CWA account is $25; maximum is $2,000.

Student Employment

The Financial Aid office is responsible for administration of the student employment program on campus. Some students have the opportunity to work on campus, both to earn money and to gain valuable experience. Students can refer to the Campus Employment Web site for more information.

Tuition Refund Plan

St. Lawrence University offers a Tuition Refund Plan through A.W.G. Dewar Inc. The plan insures against the loss of tuition, room, board and fees in case a student must withdraw during the semester due to serious medical reasons. The bills will reflect financial aid awarded to eligible students if required documents have been submitted. (Bills for the spring semester will be available online in December with January 10 as the payment due date). The first bill of each semester will also be mailed to the students at their home addresses.

Dining Options

As a residential university, St. Lawrence requires its students to live and eat on campus during each semester. We operate our own dining service, one of the most student-oriented dining services in the country. Catering to your needs is our prime objective and we truly want to satisfy you. We offer wholesome, nutritious, home style, traditional meals as well as fast food and convenience store foods for those who prefer them. We also provide a variety of local, organic and vegan items.

Course Selection

Most first-year students take their FYP and three other courses during their fall semester. Late in June, you will be registered for one or two of your fall courses (in addition to your First-Year Program course). You will receive notification of this registration by mail in early to mid-July with your FYP placement. You will register for your other courses on campus during Orientation in August. More information about fall course registration can be found on the Fall Course Enrollment and Registration page.
