Washington Introduction
The
Washington Semester Program, as part of American University in Washington DC,
was established in 1947. It is a cooperative venture, of about 200 member
colleges and universities, that allows students to take advantage of the
resources of Washington, DC. During the program, students are immersed in
Washington culture as they work in the nation's capital with famous policy
makers and business professionals.
The
American University, through the Washington Semester Program office, provides
administrative guidance and support and supervises the admission of students
into the various program offerings.
Juniors or
Seniors who have taken the prerequisite courses may apply to one of the
following programs:
• American
Politics
• Global
Economics and Business
• Foreign
Policy
•
International Environment and Development §
•
International Law and Organization §
•
Journalism
• Justice
& Law (two seperate courses, Public Law and Justice, within track)
•
Transforming Communities

programs with 3-week study abroad components. Students are financially
responsible for the additional costs associated with these programs.
Although
the Washington Semester Program (WSP) offers other programs, only the programs
listed above are approved for SLU credit.
