Spain Program Costs

Students participating in the Spain program pay regular St. Lawrence University comprehensive fees. The comprehensive fee covers tuition, room and board with the homestay families, the orientation in Salamanca, and program-integrated field components.

If you receive financial aid, your normal financial aid is applied. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you would like information about additional loans for extra costs associated with studying on this program.

The fee does not cover:

  • transportation to Spain. There is an Airfare Assistance form included in the application packet for the JFK - Madrid flight.
  • passport
  • visa
  • books
  • transportation within, and outside, Madrid

We estimate the required costs for the Spain program to be $1,780. This does not include discretionary costs such as entertainment, souvenirs, and personal travel. See Money Matters for more details. Please note that Madrid is a very expensive city, as is all of Europe today. In CIIS (Carnegie 108), we have information about what students have spent during the semester/year in the past.

A non-refundable first payment of $500 is to be made upon acceptance. The remaining sum must be paid upon receipt of bills from St. Lawrence University. Participants in the program will have incurred responsibility for the full cost once they have formally accepted enrollment. Refunds will be made in accordance with the policy outlined in the St. Lawrence catalog, minus any money that has been paid out on behalf of the student.
