Jordan Introduction
St. Lawrence is proud to announce a new partner program in Amman, Jordan
through Amideast.
Students may enroll in this program during the fall or spring semester. The program is designed for those interested
in studying the Arabic language (both Modern Standard Arabic and the Levantine
colloquial dialect) and courses in Middle East/North African studies. Courses are offered in the following
areas: Anthropology, Art, Political
Science, Environmental Studies, Religion, and Sociology. Faculty members are drawn from a variety of
institutions around the region.
The program is based at Amideast’s offices in the Sweifiyeh district of Amman. Amman
is the bustling capital city of Jordan with over 2.5 million inhabitants.
In addition to coursework, Amideast provides several forms of experiential
learning components designed to enhance the study abroad experience and
students participate in educational excursions outside of Amman. All St.
Lawrence students are required to choose the homestay family option.
