France Orientation

Fall and Academic-Year
Students arrive in France in late August. They are met in Paris by the program director and taken immediately to Rouen for a brief one day orientation before their two-week home stay with families in small communities in the Normandy countryside.

In the villages, students are housed with families. Students participate in the life of the village and do research on French culture as assigned by the program director. The group gathers each week with the director for a seminar.

Spring
Students begin their orientation to Francophone cultures with their 2-week stay in Québec City. Along with intensive French classes at the Université Laval, the SLU professor accompanying the group - and the host families - will help students with cultural adjustment issues and etiquette questions. The orientation to French culture will continue when the group arrives in France.
