Grants and Financial Aid for Off-Campus Study
Research, enrichment and extra financial aid
All recognized St. Lawrence University Off-Campus Programs charge students the same comprehensive fees they would pay on campus. Students currently on financial aid will continue to receive it and may often increase their loans to accommodate extra expenses.
Funding is available through the Center for International and Intercultural Studies (CIIS) to support St. Lawrence students who want to supplement their off-campus study experience in some way or obtain funding for travel in connection with independent study and research. The purpose of all these grants is to enhance immersion in a different culture and extend international or intercultural awareness.
Preference will go to those who have not previously received a grant through CIIS.
- Travel Enrichment Grants are intended for students participating in SLU
off-campus programs who are connecting an academic or personal/extra-curricular interest with study abroad or with intercultural experience within the U.S. - Travel Research Grants are intended for travel in connection with independent study and research on international or intercultural topics. Proposals normally support independent study that is grounded in prior academic course work; normally the fruits of this independent study will contribute to subsequent academic work on campus.
Other SLU Scholarships, Fellowships and Grants are available to St. Lawrence students who are interested in working on international internships and enrichment projects. Detailed information is available through Career Services.
Please check out the photo essays of past Grant Recipients for an idea of projects that have been completed.
Students awarded a grant or fellowship are encouraged to share their findings with the St. Lawrence University community. One way to do so is to develop a simple web page or website and have us post it on our Student Sites.
