St. Lawrence University
Living and Theme Houses
St. Lawrence University offers several theme cottages with international
or intercultural connections:
- International
House, or "I-House" is a place where international and American students can
interact with one another to share their experiences and learn about
new cultures. It is located in Sykes Residence Hall.
- The Intercultural Floor is a
living/learning center devoted to engaging faculty and students in the
study of cultural diversity.
Most students who live on Intercultural Floor (ICF) are enrolled in Introduction
to Intercultural Studies (CE 150), a course that looks at U.S. cultural
diversity in a global and comparative context. Intercultural Floor is located
on the third floor of Sykes Residence Hall.
- The Ray Ross House fosters interculutral communication and positive cultural development.
- La Casa Latina aims to provide support for students of latina heritage and students who have studied Spanish. The house is engaged in outreach programming with the campus community to highlight customs, traditions and political issues within the latina community.
- Black Women's Residence
Members of the house promote cultural diversity and are stewards of the Black Cultural Center, which is housed in the Residence.
