International Christian University (ICU) is a broadly Christian but non-denominational institution
with about 2100 students. Students seeking degrees at ICU are expected to be able
to take courses in both Japanese and English. St. Lawrence students, however,
may take all their non-language classes in English.
ICU operates on a trimester system; therefore, SLU students must make a commitment for the entire academic year.
ICU is located in Mitaka, a western suburb of Tokyo. Students can reach the center of Tokyo in about 45 minutes by public transportation (bus and subway). There are major shopping and entertainment areas within a half-hour of campus. Like all Japanese cities, Tokyo and its suburbs are crowded but safe.
