Cost
The cost for the semester program is equal to St. Lawrence University's semester
charges (in 2007-08, approximately $22,217.50). This cost includes
tuition, room and board, group excursions and cultural events. It does not include
airfare, passport and visa fees, baggage and insurance, books, transportation
to and from classes, and personal expenses. Information is included in the
program application on travel funds which are intended to help defray
the
cost of airfare to Austria.
Students bring additional money to cover personal expenses such as more elaborate meals out, weekend and break travel, gifts, and incidentals. The amount a student "needs" depends on the kinds of weekend travel he/she arranges.
A non-refundable first payment of $500 is to be made upon acceptance. The remaining sum must be paid upon receipt of bills from St. Lawrence University. Participants in a program will have incurred responsibility for the full cost once they have formally accepted enrollment. Refunds will be made in accordance with the policy outlined in the St. Lawrence catalog, minus any money that has been paid out on behalf of the student.
Financial Aid
Since the Vienna Program is a regular St. Lawrence Program, financial aid
for St. Lawrence students is automatically applied. St. Lawrence cannot offer
institutional financial aid to non-St. Lawrence students; therefore, they
should check with their home university's financial aid office. There are
travel funds available to SLU students to help pay for airfare to and from
the program as well as grants to help finance students' research projects.
Visit the Center for International and Intercultural Studies for more information.
Insurance
The St. Lawrence University Accident and Sickness Insurance provides worldwide coverage and will offer the same benefits
overseas that a student would receive on campus or in the U.S. and Canada. Students may choose to have their own insurance
or be covered under their family's plan. If students do not purchase the St. Lawrence insurance, proof of coverage by another
insurance plan is required.
Students who have had the accident insurance requirement waived on the basis of family coverage should consult with their family or insurance advisor to determine whether their coverage is worldwide. If not, they should purchase the St. Lawrence University coverage.
In addition, students who purchase an International Student Identity Card (ISIC) automatically receive basic insurance coverage when traveling outside the United States.
