Eligibility
Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA to apply to the program. Applications below a 2.8 GPA will not be considered. In addition, each applicant must present a rationale
for study in Australia that is well connected to her/his academic preparation.
The applications of the students who are selected to participate will be forwarded
to JCU for final approval.
Admission to the program is based on the quality of each student's application. Candidates must present a coherent academic rationale for participation in the Australia program and a record of academic performance that demonstrates ability to meet the challenges of off-campus study. Candidates for the program must also present evidence of maturity, responsibility and cultural sensitivity.
Students currently on disciplinary, social, or academic probation are not eligible to apply for, or participate in, this program or any other SLU program. In addition, students with outstanding disciplinary fines, service hours and/or education program requirements are not eligible to participate in the program.
Application
Completed applications for the Australia Program must be submitted to the
SLU Center for International and Intercultural Studies (CIIS) by September
25 for the SLU Spring Semester; February 20 for the SLU Fall
Semester. Normally, acceptance notices will be sent out about a month
after the application deadline.
Students who are not accepted for off-campus study have 1 week from notification of the decision to file an appeal through the CIIS. A student must provide additional information that was not considered in the original decision. Students who wish to appeal a negative decision must first meet with the Coordinator of Off-Campus Programs.
