Estimated additional costs of off-campus study

Additional costs of studying off-campus (for a semester) are estimated below.

Please Note: the figures below are be subject to change and may change based on fluctuating exchange rates and other factors. The information below can be used as a benchmark when creating a personal budget or applying for additional aid and are updated annually, but students are responsible for researching the current costs.

  • Airfare estimates listed below assume departures from the New York city area and will vary by student according to dates and their preferred city of departure. Students should research airfares based on their preferred city of departure for current pricing.
  • Visa fees and processes can change at any time and without notification. Students are given information about these processes but must obtain and follow the most up-to-date guidelines from their host country's consulate. All visa fees provided below reflect the costs for US citizens; consular fees for citizens of other countries may vary.
  • Required immunizations vary. Students must follow program requirements and the advice of the Center for Disease Control. Country specific advice is linked below. Prices and availability of vaccines may differ. Local administrators of vaccines include a Travel Clinic run by St. Lawrence County Public Health Immunization Clinics and the St. Lawrence University Torrey Health Center.
  • Students must have passports valid for a minimum of 6 months beyond the end of the program.
  • St. Lawrence University requires all study abroad students to have health insurance that covers them internationally and includes medical evacuation and repatriation coverage. In some cases, off-campus study programs will automatically enroll students into a policy that will provide them appropriate international coverage. In other cases, students will be required to enroll in their host country's national insurance system.

St. Lawrence University also works with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI) to provide medical evacuation and repatriation insurance and medical coverage if it is not already provided through the program. Additional information on opting into/out of this coverage will be available on Studio Abroad.
