Program Costs

Patti McGill Peterson Center for International and Intercultural Studies

Students studying at Nanzan in Japan pay regular St. Lawrence University comprehensive fees. The comprehensive fee covers tuition, room and board, and orientation.

If you receive financial aid, your normal financial aid is applied. Contact the Financial Aid Office if you would like information about additional loans for extra costs associated with studying on this program.

The fee does not cover:

  • transportation to Japan. There is an Airfare Assistance form included in the acceptance packet for the flight.  Students applying for assistance must give the Financial Aid Office the estimated cost of the flight.  In most cases, students must pay the first $750 of the airfare.
  • passport
  • visa
  • books
  • Japanes insurance -- required
  • security deposit, which will be returned if there is no damage to property

Please note that Nagoya is a very expensive city and Japan is a very expensive country.  See Money Matters for more details.

A non-refundable first payment of $500 is to be made upon acceptance. The remaining sum must be paid upon receipt of bills from St. Lawrence University. Participants in the program will have incurred responsibility for the full cost once they have formally accepted enrollment. Refunds will be made in accordance with the policy outlined in the St. Lawrence catalog, minus any money that has been paid out on behalf of the student.
