Matthew Skeels and Jeff Chiarenzelli (Geology) awarded grant from the SLRREF

The project is entitled “Loading of elements and anions to the St. Lawrence River from tributaries in St. Lawrence County, New York”. A year long sampling effort is planned and will begin in June. Drs. Skeels and Chiarenzelli plan to work with one or more undergraduate students on this project. Jon Montan (’72) of the St. Lawrence County Planning Board will serve as the project’s sponsor. The project will build on the work of several St. Lawrence students including John Murphy (chemistry minor) of Carthage, New York, who is currently finishing his senior thesis on the health of headwaters in St. Lawrence County.
