The Baccalaureate Service will be held on Sunday, May 19, at 8:00 a.m., in Gunnison Memorial Chapel.
The Baccalaureate Ceremony is a special ceremony that allows the senior class to reflect on their college experience. It seeks to include a variety of reflections including spiritual perspectives represented in the senior class. It is dedicated to the hope of mutual understanding and appreciation of individual and collection gifts in this community and throughout the world.
Students are invited to recite a reading, share a reading with a family member, say a prayer, create a piece of art, play a musical piece, sing, or in some other way reflect on their four years at St. Lawrence University. The ceremony is held at 8:00 a.m., just before commencement.
Families of seniors, faculty, and staff have been sent cards from the Chaplain's Office on which they are invited to offer words for the next phase of life – a simple congratulation, a note, an inspirational quote, a blessing, a poem, a prayer, or other artistic expression – for their own graduate or perhaps for the entire graduating class. All of the cards will be used together ritually at the Baccalaureate Service.
