This placement is located approximately eight miles from campus. Please note that it may be an approximate 15 minute drive from campus. Owned and operated by David and Kathy Rice, Sweetcore Farm is an off-grid fruit and vegetable
operation that grows all its produce without chemical pesticides or fertilizers. The farm consists of twelve acres with about half being tillable. The farm grows over twenty-five different crops with lettuce, blueberries, and potatoes currently leading in sales. The Rice's take pride in being part of a community of small farms that strive to connect North Country consumers with wholesome food that is grown close to home (description provided by David & Kathy Rice). Students in this placement will have the opportunity to harvest vegetables, prepare produce for market, and work in the apple orchard, as well as other farm projects including carpentry and root cellaring.
TRANSPORTATION: Students must have a personal car to transport themselves or work together to coordinate transportation with other students attending placement.
