Relay for Life at SUNY Potsdam

Relay for Life took place on April 5th at SUNY Potsdam in the Maxcy Field House.  There was an overwhelming turnout from the SUNY Potsdam students, but St. Lawrence students of different grades and social groups made it over to support the fight against cancer.  The Center for Civic Engagement represented St. Lawrence with their Team "SLUperman", in spirit of the Super Hero theme of the event.  In addition, the sisters of Kappa Delta Sigma attended the event, with at least one sister on the track all night.  However, the most overwhelming turnout at Relay in Potsdam was from team "The Behr Necessities", in support of their fellow student and friend Elaina Behringer.  Dressed in their navy and green tanks, the group of SLU students dominated the field house, bringing so much enthusiasm to the environment.  Among the activities that night were performances by the SUNY Potsdam dance team and martial arts club, a Luminaria Ceremony, and a Fight Back Ceremony. SLU student Alex Spencer said, "It was amazing to see students from all different schools and all different backgrounds come together for the same cause, there was so much energy in the field house that night".  Relay for Life is an annual event in the North Country, and St. Lawrence looks forward to representing the University again next year.
