This placement is located approximately three miles from campus.  Please note that it may be an approximate 5 minute drive from campus.  According to the Cornell Cooperative Extension website, “The mission of Cornell Cooperative Extension is “to provide unbiased, educational outreach to the North Country through research, education and demonstration in Food and Agricultural Systems, Life Skills, Community Enhancement, Rural Stewardship, and Youth Development.” Students will have the opportunity to choose a project they’d like to work on such as setting up an after school program for youth focused on food and nutrition, implementing a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, assisting with the dairy reproduction program, interviewing dairy producers in the local community, building an outdoor hog hut, reconstructing a sugar shack for the farm’s maple syrup production, maintaining the permaculture garden, monitoring invasive species or participating in various farm chores.
