"Being a Community Mentor is a new and exciting experience for me, and I enjoy every minute of my work and my volunteering. I am involved with the Next Step Program, which allows me to work with a great group of SLU students as well as high school students from a local school. I enjoy being a partner to a student that is in the same place I was a little over a year ago deciding what I wanted to do after graduating high school and how to get myself there. It’s nice to have someone to look up to and trust, someone who has “been there” already. I am glad to be that person for my high school partner, and I know that what I do with the Next Step Program is making a big difference in the lives of everyone involved. Basically, being a CM means that I am able to make a difference in our community through involvement in programs such as the Next Step."
Lauren acts as the CM for the Next Step Mentoring Program at Norwood-Norfolk Central School.
