"For me the Community Mentor position represents a rewarding opportunity to facilitate other students’ work in the community throughout the academic year and engage with them in a reflection process on their experiences and challenges. It is a chance for professional development as I can have a hands on experience in the fields of sociology and social work in which I am very interested in. At the same time I am improving technical and inter-personal skills and having an active role by giving back to the community. It certainly represents impressive personal growth because it is a privilege for me to be able to interact with different groups of people and gain new perspectives - a kind of experience based on seeing things today that I was not able to see yesterday. My vision and understanding of society and service are significantly broadened as I continue my work. "
