Purpose is to fund qualified applicants
whose enhanced education and training will ultimately benefit the primary
concern of NAJA, children, and youth. Each year, scholarships are awarded
for graduate-level studies for one year in counseling psychology, mental
health, mental retardation, speech pathology, exceptional children,
remedial skills, hearing impaired, and gifted and talented. Applicants
must work directly with children.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants
must have been accepted by a graduate school on or before April l.
DEADLINE: Completed applications
must be in be February 1. Applications are only available between September
1 and November 15.

Scholarships range from $1000 to $5000
per year up to four years, unless enrollment is in a program recognized
by the Regents as requiring more than four years to complete. Recipients
must agree to practice in their chosen profession in New York State.
First priority will be given to any candidate who is economically disadvantaged
and a minority group member. Second priority will be given to members
of minority groups underrepresented by the profession. Third priority
will be given to any candidate who is enrolled or a graduate of SEEK,
EOP, or HEOP.
ELIGIBILITY: Applicants
must be pursuing a postgraduate degree in one of the following fields:
architecture, chiropractic, law, occupational therapy, optometry, physical
therapy, podiatry, psychology, social work. speech pathology, veterinary
medicine.
