Designed to increase the number of U.S.
citizens educated in disciplines of science and engineering by awarding three
types of fellowships to recent outstanding undergraduates: National Defense
Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships; The Navy's Office of Naval Research
Graduate Fellowship Program; and the Air Force Laboratory Graduate Fellowship
Program (10% of the fellowships will be awarded to members of ethnic minority
groups). NDSEG Fellows may choose as their fellowship institution appropriate
U.S. institutions of higher education offering advanced degree in science and
engineering. The NDSEG Fellowship pays for full tuition and fees; the tenure
is 36 months. The NDSEG Fellowship stipends for new 1996 Fellows for 12-month
tenures is $16,000, $17,500 and $18,000.
ELIGIBILITY: Must be a U.S. citizen;
must hold a BA/BS and be entering a relevant graduate program.
