Fellowships, Scholarships & Other Financial Awards
Fellowships, scholarships, and other financial awards are important
options to explore as you begin to consider your post-St. Lawrence plans.
There are many sources of aid for further study both in the U.S. and abroad.
Some support further study at institutions, while others facilitate independent
study and projects. The purpose of this website is to inform you of some of
the numerous opportunities available, and to highlight briefly their application
procedures.
The Scholarship, Fellowship and Grants Committee and Career Services
& Leadership Education supports applications to two types of awards: Direct
Apply Awards and Nomination/Endorsement
Awards
- Students apply directly to foundations and institutions for the
Direct Apply Awards. The Fellowship Files, located in the Career
Services & Leadership Education office, contains information
about the Direct Apply Awards.
- The Scholarship, Fellowship & Grants
Committee at St. Lawrence University provides student support for
approximately 10 fellowships. Many of these fellowships require
the endorsement or nomination of the committee in order to apply
for the fellowship. Each of the SLU sponsored fellowships has a
faculty member who can assist students with the application process.
Once an application is complete and submitted to the faculty contact,
the entire committee will then select nominees for the nomination/endorsement
awards only.
Once you decide which opportunities you wish to pursue,
visit the Career Services & Leadership Education office to obtain
information and application materials, then set up an appointment
with your academic advisor to discuss your interest further. The application
process for most of these awards is long and laborious, and it is
critical to begin planning and applying during your junior year. Make
an appointment today with a counselor at Career Services & Leadership
Education or your academic advisor to begin the process.
