In this info session we will review various summer research databases, local internships, and review the CSTEP & McNair research and internship application process and requirements so that you can get a head start over winter break.
In just one hour, students will create their very own personal budget. Leave the workshop with the tools you need to manage your money each month. Budgets give you control, organization, more money and better opportunities.
There are many tips and tricks within Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In this interactive workshop we will cover simple tools within Microsoft Suite that will help you produce well-formatted research papers, well-designed posters & PowerPoint presentations, and organized Excel spreadsheets.

This weekly CSTEP & McNair event is for program students currently in the process of applying to graduate school. Please feel free to stop by at any time between 4-6pm to receive feedback on your personal statements, edit your CV, draft emails to prospective faculty, create a Graduate School Application Submission Timeline, explore scholarship opportunities, etc.
This session counts towards one of the two CSTEP & McNair monthly meeting requirements for seniors.

Applying for jobs & internships and not sure how to write a cover letter? Have a cover letter drafted but need it to be edited/reviewed? Stop by the workshop to learn the basic steps for writing an effective cover letter & receive feedback on your drafts.
There are many benefits to conducting summer research: faculty mentorship, transferrable skills, relevant experience, and the opportunity to investigate whether a research career or a particular field is a good fit. Summer undergraduate research is especially important for students considering pursuing Master's and PhDs to be competitive applicants. In this session, CSTEP and McNair Scholars will be introduced to a variety of summer research opportunities and internships for Summer 2017.
In this workshop we will review the components of a strong CV and Personal Statement in preparation for graduate school applications. Peer editing will be available to those who already have drafts of either document.
Are you hoping to participate in a McNair or CSTEP summer research experience? If so, you will need to submit a research proposal by Friday, February 10. In this workshop we will review the programmatic aspects of the summer research experience, how to write a research proposal & how to connect with a faculty mentor.
Thinking about applying for summer jobs, internships, or research? In this session CSTEP and McNair Scholars will workshop their resumes and receive feedback on how to improve their application materials.
