When I returned to St. Lawrence, I brought with me a newly realized passion for Biology, specifically Ecology.  Growing up in the Adirondacks, I spent a lot of my childhood out in the forests and on the many of the lakes and ponds in the area.  I was determined to pursue an education that would prepare me for a career in the field.  The classes that I have had the opportunity to take at St. Lawrence have only strengthened my desire to pursue my education to the highest level.  I hope to attend graduate school for Ecology so that I can pursue more research opportunities and gain experience in the scientific world.

I was fortunate to have the opportunity to take SLU's Tropical Ecology/Geology in Costa Rica class, where we studied interesting environments such as the Tropical Rain Forest, the Cloud Forest and several of Costa Rica's active volcanoes.  I was even more fortunate to have the opportunity to do research for Dr. Matthew Skeels and Dr. Eileen Visser which focuses on the potential of lead contamination in production of maple syrup in St. Lawrence County.
