Saints Head To Nationals after Zone Championship Win

St. Lawrence University's equestrian team will be among the teams riding for a national team championship when the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national show begins in Kentucky in May after the Saints staged an impressive win in the Zone II team championship competition at the Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall on Saturday.

Saints Advance 5 To Zone II Championship Show

St. Lawrence University's Riding Team advanced five riders to the 2011 Zone II Championship Horse Show with top two finishes in individual competition at the Region II Championships at the Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall Saturday afternoon.

Saints Win Home Show, High Point Title

A strong showing in equitation on the flat lifted St. Lawrence University's riding team to a three-point victory over Cazenovia in a Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition at the Elsa Gunnison Appleton Riding Hall Sunday and to the 2011 Region 2 High Point Team title.

Saints Have Regional Point Lead Heading into Lengthy Break

St. Lawrence University's riding team will take a 15 point lead in the race for regional high point team into a lengthy break between Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competitions after winning its second home show of the season on Saturday and finishing second at Cazenovia on Sunday.

2011-12: Katherine played a big role in the Saints' 2012 National Team Championship as she won the novice on the flat competition as part of the team event at nationals. A consistent winner in novice on the flat during the show season with top two showings in novice over fences as well, she took third in novice on the flat in zone competition to help the Saints to the title in that event as well.

2010-11: Katherine was first in novice fences at Geneseo and first in novice flat at the SLU home show.

Katherine Figueroa was a member of the riding team and played varsity field hockey at the Dana Hall School. She earned the Dana Hall Riding Award in 2009 and was on the honor roll in all four years of high school.

Cook High Point Rider as Saints Sweep Weekend Shows

St. Lawrence University's riding team swept a pair of weekend shows at Geneseo and head into the final two Intercollegiate Horse Show Association shows with a 14-point lead on second place Cazenovia in the Region II point standings.

Saints Win Home Show, 2nd at Cazenovia on Opening Weekend

St. Lawrence University's riding team shrugged off a sub-par performance by its scoring riders in the equitation over fences portion of its home horse show on Oct. 31 as a perfect performance in the equitation on the flat classes lifted the Saints to a 43-39 victory over Cazenovia with Geneseo third with 35 points and Potsdam fourth with 34 to complete the opening weekend of Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competition.

2011-12: Jessie Lewis played a key role in the Saints national team title with a third place finish in intermediate over fences in the team competition at nationals. She also had a first place finish at zones to help the Saints qualify as a team for the national show. Jessie had three wins and a second in the two spring shows, winning novice on the flat in both and finishing first in intermediate fences at SLU and second at Cazenovia to help the Saints to the regional high point team title. She was reserve high point rider in both shows. She also had a pair of wins in the fall show season.


2010-11: Jessie finished third in the team competition in intermediate on the flat to help the Saints to a Reserve National Championship at the IHSA National Show. She was fourth in intermediate fences in the team competition at zones and also had a second in novice flat and a second in intermediate fences during the show season.

Jessie Lewis played lacrosse and was a rider in high school. Her mother, Carol Schneible Lewis '80, was a Intercollegiate Horse Show Association national champion for St. Lawrence in 1978. 

Molly Coryer '13

2011-12: Regional champion and second in the Zone competition in Novice over Fences, Molly qualified for the national show as an individual and placed fourth overall in Novice Fences competition. She won her class in both shows at Geneseo during the fall portion of the season.

2010-11: Molly rode in the novice classes in her first year on the riding team and was first over fences in the season opening show at Geneseo and first on the flat and third over fences in the second Geneseo show. She also had second place finishes in the first home show and at Cazenovia.

At OFA: A member of the swim team, Molly earned the Section X Sportsmanship Award and the Most Improved Award. She was a member of the National Honor Society and earned High Honor Roll honors. 

Rebecca Walsh '13

2011-12: Becky competed in walk-trot-canter and had a first and a second in shows at Geneseo.

2010-11: Becky was second in walk-trot canter  in the Geneseo show.

At Weymouth: Rebecca was an honor roll student and participated in riding.
