Eight Individuals, Novice Boat Earn Weekly Conference Honors

Oct. 27: The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and St. Lawrence University was well represented amongst those honored. 

Both junior captain Dan Ramsey and sophomore Jenna Hulton earned the conference's "Performer of the Week" award for men's and women's cross country, respectively, after both runners won the individual title at the 2009 NYSCTC Championship last weekend.  Ramsey and Hulton's victories each led the Saints to the team championships as well.

Four Saints Earn Liberty League Weekly Honors

Oct. 20: The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and four St. Lawrence University student-athletes were amongst those honored.

First-year student Courtney Davis of the field hockey squad, junior Ben Cryts of the football team, and Devon Shatkin and Abby van Geldern of the women's soccer team each earned an award for their play.

Davis contributed her first collegiate goal in the Saints' field hockey team's 5-0 triumph over Nazareth on Tuesday.  The Schenectady, NY native's play landed her Liberty League "Co-Rookie of the Week" honors with Skidmore's Ceilidh MacNeill.

Five Saints Earn Liberty League Weekly Awards

Oct. 6: The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and five St. Lawrence University student-athletes were amongst those honored.

Juniors Dan Ramsey and Wendy Pavlus each earned Performer of the Week honors for men's and women's cross country, respectively, after their outstanding performances at the 2009 Paul Short Invitational.  Ramsey led the men's team with a 60th place showing out of 386 competitors with a time of 24:41 in the Inter-Divisional race hosted by Lehigh University.  Meanwhile, Pavlus paced the women's squad to a 21st place finish in the Inter-Divisional meet.  The Tupper Lake, NY native finished 31st overall out of 362 runners with a personal-best time of 21:16 and was the top Division III runner.

Trio of Saints Honored by the Liberty League

Sept. 29: Sept. 22: The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and three St. Lawrence University student-athletes were amongst those honored.

Both the Saints' field hockey and football squads picked up impressive victories over the weekend, and their success was recognized by the conference.  Sophomore Michelle Laframboise was named the league's Co-Defensive Player of the Week for field hockey after the Scarlet and Brown earned crucial wins over William Smith and Rochester.  Meanwhile, senior co-captain Gerard Bryant and first-year kicker Christopher Dris earned weekly accolades after St. Lawrence defeated Merchant Marine to win the Hoffman Cup.

Laframboise tallied a goal and three assists against Rochester to contribute to the Saints' 7-1 win on Friday. On Saturday, the New Haven, VT native played very strong defensively against William Smith, helping St. Lawrence to a 4-3 win over the Herons.  Laframboise shared the honor with Hamilton's Amy Allen.  The weekend sweep kept the Saints tied at the top of the Liberty League standings with Skidmore and Hamilton, all of which boast unbeaten conference records.

Eleven Saints Honored by Liberty League

Sept. 22: The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and eleven St. Lawrence University student-athletes were amongst those honored.

Junior setter Abigail Rose was named the Co-Performer of the Week for her efforts on the volleyball court. 
She had an outstanding performance this weekend at the Cardinal Classic Tournament in Plattsburgh, NY as Rose broke the St. Lawrence All-Time career assist record against St. Joseph's College with 35 assists, setting a new St. Lawrence record of 2,457 assists. Rose rounded out the weekend big, racking up 37 assists against Elmira, 30 against Hamilton and 26 against Elmira in the championship match to help St. Lawrence win the tournament title. Rose was also named MVP of the Cardinal Classic Tournament.

Eleven Saints Earn Liberty League Weekly Accolades

Sept. 9: The Liberty League handed out its first set of weekly awards on Monday, and 11 St. Lawrence University student-athletes were among the recipients.  Six Saints earned "Performer of the Week" honors while five newcomers were named "Rookie of the Week."

Junior setter Abby Rose was named the "Co-Performer of the Week" for volleyball.  Rose led the Saints to the 2009 Hartwick Invitational championship this weekend as St. Lawrence finished with perfect 4-0 mark. Rose earned All-Tournament Team honors, contributing 119 assists, 15 kills, 45 digs and 10 service aces.

Four saints earn weekly conference honors

Four St. Lawrence University student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League Monday afternoon for their performances during the last week.


After the football team’s first win of the season on Saturday, junior Eric Jones (Watertown, NY/Watertown) was named Co-Offensive Performer of the Week after racking up a career-high 140 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns against Susquehanna. The Watertown, NY, native, who tacked on the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, led the Saints to a 49-42 win over the Crusaders.


The volleyball team earned its 26th win of the season, a program record, following a 3-0 win over SUNY IT on Saturday. In a 1-1 weekend for the Saints, rookie Nyasha Miller (Mt. Kisko, NY/Fox Lane/Taft School) had a team-leading 22 kills, four service aces and 17 digs in seven games, earning ‘Co-Rookie of the Week’ honors.
