Saints 2-0 At North Country Classic

Sept. 2:  The St. Lawrence University volleyball team opened the 2011 season 2-0, defeating both Hartwick College and Neumann University in the first day of the North Country Classic.  In the first match, the Saints bounced back after a slow start to defeat the Hawks 3-1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-11, 25-16).  In the nightcap, a strong offense helped the home team sweep the Knights 3-0 (25-21, 25-20, 25-20).

Saints Open 2011 Season With 3-1 Victory Over Hartwick

Sept. 2:  The St. Lawrence University volleyball team opened the 2011 season with a 3-1 victory (25-23, 23-25, 25-11, 25-16) over Hartwick on Friday afternoon in the Burkman Gymnasium. 

Saints To Open 2011 Season at North Country Classic

With the 2011 season opener just days away, expectations for the St. Lawrence University volleyball team are at a high after a historic 2010 season.  The Saints set school records for most consecutive wins (10) and highest attendance (842), held the first-ever "Dig Pink" match where it raised $6,300 for breast cancer awareness and earned a thrilling 3-2 victory over Clarkson, and earned the program's first-ever conference tournament title.

Aug. 25:  Seniors Marta Johann and Nyasha Miller have been voted as captains for the 2011 St. Lawrence University volleyball team.

2012: Street again split the setting duties in her sophomore season with the Saints, recording 476 assists to push her over the 1,000 assist milestone. Currently fifth on that all-time list, she also added 128 kills, 26 blocks and 332 digs. The Liverpool, NY native earned Liberty League Academic All-Conference honors for her efforts in the classroom and was also a captain.  

2011:   Street made an immediate impact in her rookie season, alternating as setter and playing in 117 sets.  She recorded 593 assists and also added 46 kills, 33 service aces, 233 digs and 18 blocks.  The Liverpool, NY native posted seven double-doubles during the season and had a season-high 56 assists against SUNYIT (9/9/11).  A member of SAAC and a QRC mentor, Jenna earned Dean's List honors while double-majoring in math and economics.

Street was a two-sport athlete, participating in volleyball and lacrosse.  A captain and Most Valuable Player of her volleyball team, she earned first team All-League and fourth team All-State honors, and was named the Section III Player of the Year.  The Liverpool, NY native is a member of the National Honor Society and was a frequent on the honor roll.  She also earned Academic Achievement awards in math, technology, sciences, history and Spanish.

2012: O'Connor battled injury throughout the 2012 season, appearing in 91 sets and recorded 149 digs and 13 assists. The Pembroke, ONT native was also a "Teammate of the Year" award recipient in her sophomore season and is also a member of the softball team.  

2011:   O'Connor played in 55 sets in her rookie season, recording 106 digs and 15 service aces.  She posted a career-high seven aces against Southwestern in Dallas, TX (10/15/11).  The Pembroke, ONT native is also a member of the Saints softball team, where she earned Liberty League All-Conference and All-Tournament team honors in the spring of 2012.

O'Connor was a multi-sport athlete, participating in volleyball, softball, hockey, badminton, basketball, soccer and cross-country.  The Pembroke, Ontario native was also a frequent on the honor roll.  

Melissa Anderson

Melissa Anderson, a former volleyball standout at Northland College in Ashland, WI, joined the St. Lawrence University athletic staff in the fall of 2011 as the assistant coach of the volleyball program.  She also served as the assistant softball coach in the spring of 2012.   

During her four-year career with the LumberJills, Anderson garnered a host of awards and accomplishments, including being named to the All-UMAC First Team in 2006 and 2009 (Honorable Mention, 2007, 2008).   A three-year captain, she helped guide her team to a 2007 UMAC Tournament championship.  The Brooklyn Park, MN native surpassed the 1000th kill and 1000th dig marks as a junior and finished her career with 1, 278 and 1, 548, respectively. 

A 2010 graduate, Anderson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with minors in social studies and psychology.  She returned to her alma mater after graduating to serve as the assistant volleyball coach, while also working as a second grade teacher in the Washburn school district.  From February to June, she served as the interim head coach of the LumberJills.   

Anderson Joins Saints Volleyball Staff

Melissa Anderson, a former volleyball standout at Northland College in Ashland, WI, has joined the St. Lawrence University athletic staff as the assistant coach of the volleyball program.

Saints Celebrate Memorable Season

Dec. 15:  The Saints volleyball team held their end-of-the-season gathering on Sunday, December 5th  at which it celebrated a great 2010 season where it finished with a Liberty League Conference Championship for the first time in program history.  

Rose Chosen As AVCA All-American

Nov. 18:  After receiving the honor of being the program's first player named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region team, Abby Rose has now become the first player to earn an All-American Honorable Mention selection
