Samantha Miller '15

2011-12:   Miller joined the Saints in the spring of 2012 and will compete for a spot in the lineup next season.  The Rio Rancho, NM native is a mathematics major at SLU.    

At Cleveland: Miller was a three-sport athlete, participating in cross country, track and field and tennis.  A captain of the tennis squad in her senior season, she earned team Most Valuable Player honors, and was also a district champion in singles.  The Rio Rancho, NM native is a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the honor roll and the district All-Academic team.  

Tori Copelas '15

Lynnfield, MA

2011-12:   Copelas joined the Saints in the spring of 2012 and will compete for a starting spot in the upcoming season.  She is a performance and communication arts major and is also a member of SLU Buddies and the Association for Campus Entertainment (ACE).      

At Lynnfield:  Copelas was a two-sport athlete, participating in tennis and soccer.  A captain of both teams, she earned the Coaches' Award and Most Valuable Player honors in tennis, and is also a member of her high school's Tennis Hall of Fame.  The Lynnfield, MA native was a consistent face on the honor roll.  

Saints Ranked #17 in the Northeast Region

Nov. 4: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team is ranked #17 in the Northeast Region in the 2011-12 Division III ITA Preseason Rankings. The duo of senior Hillary Drewry and first-year student Elkie Vandenbeemnt are ranked #13 for doubles teams after it claimed the 1st doubles state title at the 2011 NYS Championships, and finished the fall season with a 12-2 record.

Saints Capture 3rd Singles Title; Repeat as Doubles Champions

Oct. 16:  The St. Lawrence University doubles team of senior captain Hillary Drewry and first-year student Elkie Vandenbeemt capped its stellar fall season as it claimed the 1st doubles state title at the 2011 NYS Division III women's tennis championships on Sunday.  Also earning a state title was first-year student Olivia Arroyo, who captured the championship crown at 3rd singles in Mendon, NY. 

Three Saints Advance To Finals At NYS Championship

Oct. 15:  The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team had another successful day of competition, advancing athletes to three of nine final matches at the NY State Division III championships.  Rookies Elkie Vandenbeemt and Olivia Arroyo advanced in second and third singles, respectively.  Vandenbeemt, along with senior Hillary Drewry, are vying for a championship title in first doubles.  

Four Saints Advance at NYS Championships

Oct. 14: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis is looking to end its 2011 fall season on a high note with competition throughout the weekend at the New York State Division III Championships at the Mendon Racquet Club in Mendon, NY. Four individuals and two doubles teams advanced in competition and are still in the hunt for a championship.

Saints Overpower Plattsburgh, 9-0

Oct. 2: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team powered past Plattsburgh State, 9-0, to earn a dual match victory on Sunday afternoon in the Newell Field House. The Saints, ranked No. 16 in the Northeast Region, improve to 2-0, while Plattsburgh drops to 5-6 on the season. 

Saints Compete in Final Day of ITA Championship

Sept. 25: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team concluded competition at the 2011 USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championship, hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, NY.  First-year student Elkie Vandenbeemt advanced to the quarterfinals in singles play, and teamed up with senior Hillary Drewry to advance the quarterfinals in doubles action. 

Saints Impress on Day One of ITA Championship

Sept. 24: The St. Lawrence University women's tennis team had a solid first day of competition at the 2011 USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championship, hosted by William Smith College in Geneva, NY.  Senior Hillary Drewry and first-year student Elkie Vandenbeemt both won two singles matches and remain in contention, while the duo teamed up and have advanced to the doubles quarterfinals.
