Darlene Gonyeau

Darlene Gonyeau, St. Lawrence's Operations Specialist/Visit Coordinator, will serve as the Faculty/Staff Mentor to the softball team for the 2012-13 season.

Office Responsibilities
"My responsibilities include the processing of international applications and I work as a Visit Coordinator during various times of the year. This task involves speaking to students and parents on the phone to arrange for their visit."

What I like about St. Lawrence
The campus is breathtaking. Both modern and historical buildings compliment each other. The people are always very pleasant and helpful.

Briana Andrews

Briana Andrews, a four-year member of the Binghamton University softball team, joined the Saints staff as the assistant softball coach in the fall of 2012.  

Andrews made the America East Conference All-Rookie Team in 2008 and was a five-time Academic Honor Roll member.  She was inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society in 2009, and was a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee as an undergraduate. 

An Endicott, NY native, Briana served as the head coach of several travel softball teams for the past five years.  She graduated in 2012 with a degree in English and human development. 

Elisa Van Kirk

Elisa Van Kirk was named the new head coach of the St. Lawrence University softball program in the summer of 2012 after serving as the assistant coach at Wesleyan in Connecticut.  Before joining the Cardinals in 2011, she spent a year assisting at Smith College, where she also earned her Master of Science Degree with specialization in exercise and sport studies.

A former division I softball player at The George Washington University, Van Kirk finished her career with the Colonials ranked fourth all-time in walks and fifth in home runs.  A two-time Dean's List honoree, she was twice named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and three times to the GWU Athletic Department Honor Roll.    

Along with playing and coaching experience at the collegiate level, Van Kirk has worked extensively with U-14 and U-18 summer teams, as well as numerous camps and clinics as a hitting and catching instructor.   

Elisa Van Kirk Named Head Coach of Saints Softball Program

July 23:  St. Lawrence University Director of Athletics Margie Strait announced that Elisa Van Kirk has been named the head coach of the Saints softball program.  

RPI Rallies to Beat Saints, 4-3

May 5: Gillian McCarthy hit a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute softball team to a 4-3 come-from-behind victory over St. Lawrence University in game five of the 2012 Liberty League Tournament at Doris Robison Field.

Saints Knock Off Union, 5-4

May 5: The St. Lawrence University softball team knocked off the defending champion Union College in the Liberty League Tournament at RPI's Doris Robison Field Saturday morning.  The Saints improved to 20-12 with their first win over the Dutchwomen since the 2002 season. 

Engineers Edge Saints, 4-3

May 4: The St. Lawrence University softball team's fifth inning rally fell short as Rensselaer held on for a 4-3 victory in game one of the Liberty League Tournament at Doris Robison Field in Troy, NY.  The Engineers, now 25-12, advance into the winners' bracket and will take on Rochester at 12:30pm on Saturday.  Meanwhile, the Saints fell to 19-12 and will battle Union on Saturday at 10:00am.

Saints Split with Cardinals

April 29:  The St. Lawrence University softball team split its non-conference doubleheader with St. John Fisher on Sunday afternoon in Rochester, NY.  The Saints dropped the opener, 4-0, before rebounding to win the nightcap by the score of 4-1. 

Saints Sweep on “Senior Day”, Clinch Playoff Berth

April 28:  The St. Lawrence University softball team clinched the No. 4 seed in the 2012 Liberty League Tournament as it swept Skidmore College on Saturday.  The Saints battled back from an early 2-0 deficit to earn a 5-2 victory in game one, then blanked the Thoroughbreds in game two with a 7-0 win.
