Saints Use 18-Hit Effort to Defeat Illinois College, 11-4

Mar. 10: The St. Lawrence University softball team was able to salvage a split on Wednesday thanks to an 18-hit outing against Illinois College in Fort Myers, FL.  The Saints, who dropped the opening game to Elms College 5-3, came back in the second game to blitz the Lady Blues 11-4 and improve to 5-3 on the season.

Duffany Helps Saints Earn Split by Shutting Out Drew

Mar. 8: St. Lawrence University junior pitcher Rachel Duffany pitched her second career shutout on Monday in Fort Myers, FL, scattering three hits and delivering several crucial strikeouts to help the Saints' softball team defeat Drew University, 2-0.

Rogers, Atkins Lead Saints to Impressive Sweep

Mar. 7: St. Lawrence University junior Melissa Rogers and senior Amy Atkins combined for 10 RBI's on Sunday, leading the Saints softball team to a pair of victories in Fort Myers, FL.  Rogers was 3-for-4 and had four RBI's in an 8-3 win over Washington College (MD), while Atkins had two home runs and five RBI's in a 14-0 rout against Rockford.

Saints Split Opening Games of 2010 Campaign

Mar. 6: The St. Lawrence University softball team split its opening games of the 2010 season on Saturday in Fort Myers, FL.  The Saints defeated Anna Maria College 6-5 in the early game before falling 5-3 to Heidelberg in the second game.

Saints Prepared to Open 2010 Campaign in Florida

Mar. 4: The St. Lawrence University softball team, which boasts an experienced line-up and a solid defensive corps, will kick off its 2010 season during its annual spring trip to Fort Myers, FL.  The Saints open the season on Saturday, March 6 against Anna Maria College and Heidelberg University.

2012:  Weisbarth was a solid offensive contributor in her junior season with the Saints as she finished with a .329 batting average, fourth on the team.  The Toronto, ONT native was also second in runs scored and triples.  A history major, Weisbarth is a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the Jewish Student Union.  She also participated in the London study abroad program in the fall of 2012.      

2011:  Weisbarth was a consistent face in the Saints infield in her sophomore season and finished with a .244 batting average.  She led the team with six sacrifice bunts, was tied for the most triples and was a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases. 

2010: 
Weisbarth provided speed on the bases, appearing in 21 games for the Saints' in her first year and scoring seven runs. She earned the Bradley R. Evers First-Year Student Award and is a Canadian Merit Scholar. 

At York Mills Collegiate:  Weisbarth was a tri-sport athlete, participating in Softball, Basketball and Hockey. The Toronto, ON native was a two-year captain of the softball squad and was named the MVP of that team her senior season. A consistent figure on the Honor Roll, Weisbarth also served as a captain for both the basketball and hockey teams.

2012:  McGinley earned Liberty League All-Conference accolades for the second time in her career.  A utility player, she went 8-8 on the mound with a 2.86 ERA and also held a .973 fielding percentage at first base.  The Canastota, NY native was first in the league among active pitchers in the homeruns allowed category, giving up only one this season.  A history major, McGinley also earned All-Academic honors for her efforts in the classroom.  She also participated in the London study abroad program in the fall of 2012.      

2011:  McGinley was a consistent glove in the field for the Saints in her sophomore season, compiling .971 fielding percentage in 139 chances.   On the mound, she went 5-2 while striking out 39 in 55.0 innings.  She compiled 19 hits in 82 at bats for a .232 batting average.   

2010:  McGinley added a solid bat to the Saints' line-up in her rookie season, earning 1st Team All-Conference Honors as the designated player.  She also became a primary pitching option as a first-year student. She hit .263 and totaled 15 hits and 9 RBI's in 2010.

At Canastota:  McGinley was a decorated student-athlete, earning honors for Softball, Soccer and Basketball while earning induction into the National Honor Society. The Canastota, NY native was the 2009 League MVP for both softball and basketball, and was a two-time Section III All-Star for softball as well. A High Honor Roll student, McGinley helped her softball team capture the 2009 Class B Section title.

2012:  Cavellier earned Liberty League All-Conference honors for the third time in her career as she was an Honorable Mention selection at catcher.  The Dexter, NY native finished the season ranked sixth in Division III in sacrifice flies while leading the Saints with 20 RBIs.  Named to the Conference All-Tournament team, she was also tied for first with two homeruns, second in slugging percentage and batting average and third in hits.  Cavellier earned All-Academic honors for her efforts in the classroom.  A psychology and sociology double major, she is a member of the Psi Chi honorary, SaGA and APO.  Cavellier also earned Dean's List honors in the fall of 2012.      

2011: 
Cavellier took on the catching role in her sophomore season and finished with 19 hits in 70 at bats for a .271 batting average.  The Dexter, NY native was third on the team in doubles and was tied for second in walks with eight. She was named to the Liberty League Second Team and also earned All-Academic honors.    

2010:
Cavellier started in every game as a rookie, earning Liberty League Honorable Mention honors. The Dexter, NY native finished with a .323 average and was tied for the most triples in the Liberty League. Cavellier, who also was top-3 in the conference in walks (15), added a solid glove at third base where she posted one of the highest fielding percentages at the position in University history.  She earned Dean's List honors in the spring of 2010. 

Four Saints Spend Semesters Abroad

Feb. 17: Today's date marks the annual return of professional baseball's pitchers and catchers to spring training, meaning winter's grasp on the weather is hopefully coming to a close.  With the St. Lawrence University softball team's opening games in Fort Myers, FL only 17 days away, four members of the Saints will take the field having spent a recent semester in places much further away than their spring break destination.
