Plimpton Joins Saints Softball Coaching Staff

Chelsea Plimpton, a former pitching standout at Fordham University, has joined the St. Lawrence University athletic staff as the assistant coach of the softball program.

Chelsea Plimpton, a former pitching standout at Fordham University, joined the St. Lawrence University softball coaching staff in the fall of 2011.   

A 2011 graduate, Plimpton became a primary starter for the Rams after transferring from St. John's University.  The East Amherst, NY native compiled a 40-16 record and a 1.89 ERA over her three season career at Fordham.  She threw her first career no-hitter against Princeton in March of her senior season and followed that with a big victory over then #25-ranked Syracuse.      

Plimpton also served as a coach at the Canisius College Softball Pitching Camp in Buffalo, NY. Prior to joining the Saints staff, Plimpton served as an intern at Katz Media Group in New York City. 

Trio of Saints Continue Success After Graduation

July 25:  Tri-captains of the 2011 Saints softball team, Rachel Duffany, Meg Goodemote and Melissa Rogers graduated with honors at the University's Commencement ceremony and are continuing their success beyond St. Lawrence. 

Five Saints Earn All-Conference Honors

May 10:  Five members of the 2011 St. Lawrence University softball team were awarded All-Conference honors for their performance throughout the season.  Sophomore Chelsea Cavellier and first-year student Caroline Kieltyka were Second Team choices, while senior Rachel Duffany and first-year students Rebecca Allen and Leslie Stratton were given Honorable Mention status. 

Saints Fall 6-4 to Rochester in Season Finale

May 7: The St. Lawrence University softball team, competing in the Liberty League Tournament for the first time, saw its 2011 season come to an end on Saturday in Albany, NY.  The University of Rochester took a 4-0 lead and hung on for a 6-4 victory, eliminating the Saints from the conference tournament.

Engineers Drop Saints in Opening Game of Conference Tournament

May 6: The St. Lawrence University softball team lost the opening game of the 2011 Liberty League Tournament in Albany, NY on Friday afternoon to the top-seeded Engineers of Rensselaer at Cummings Haker Field.

Doubleheader vs. Cardinals Canceled Due to Weather

May 3: The St. Lawrence University softball team's regular season finale versus St. John Fisher, scheduled for today, has been canceled due to weather. The doubleheader will not be rescheduled.

Union Tops Saints in Pair of Tight Games, 1-0 and 5-4

May 1: The St. Lawrence University softball team battled Union College in a pair of Liberty League games on Sunday in Schenectady, NY.  The Dutchwomen were able to score the lone run in the 10th inning of a 1-0 pitcher's duel in game one, then used a walk-off single to capture game two, 5-4.

Saints Sweep Skidmore, Clinch Post-Season Berth

Apr. 30: The St. Lawrence University softball team swept Skidmore College on Saturday in Saratoga Springs, NY by the scores of 6-4 (10) and 16-4.  The victories clinch a spot for the Saints in the 2011 Liberty League Tournament, with seeding to be determined tomorrow with a doubleheader against Union College.
