St. Lawrence University sophomore Aimee Caligiore shot
rounds of 80 and 74 for a 154 total and finished ninth in the Dartmouth College
Women's Golf Invitational on Sunday.
Sophomore Aimee Caligiore followed up her best round as a
collegian with a solid 77 to win medalist honors and junior teammate Melissa
Snizek was second, one stroke back, as St. Lawrence University's women's golf
team won the St. Lawrence Collegiate Invitational for the third straight year.
The Saint
women's golf team took the first day lead in the nine-team St. Lawrence
University Invitational, shooting a team score of 315 for a 10-stroke lead on
New York University. The Saints are the defending champions in the event.
St. Lawrence University's women's
golf team has established itself as one of the top Division III programs in the
Northeast in just ten years as a varsity program. The Saints made their third
straight NCAA Division III tournament appearance in the spring of 2010 and were
ranked as high as sixth in the GolfStat Rankings for women's collegiate golf
during the 2009-10 season.
The Saints annually compete in
top tournaments throughout the Northeast, playing against Division I, II and
III competition. They start the year with the St. Lawrence Intercollegiate
Invitational, an annual event which is one of the few nationally to include
both men's and women's teams on the same course on the same day.
Junior Alair Muzzatti put together the two best rounds for a
Saint golfer in the 2010 NCAA Division III Golf Championships at the Mission
Inn Golf and Tennis Resort in Florida, following up a 83 on Thursday with a 77
in Friday's final round.
Sophomore Melissa Snizek shot a seven-over par round of 80,
the best for a St. Lawrence player thus far, and the Saints moved to 16th
with their best team round of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Golf
Championships at the Mission Hills Golf and Tennis Resort in Florida on
Thursday.
The golf course continued to hold the upper hand in day two
of the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships with the St. Lawrence
women's team improving just four strokes over Tuesday's opening round.
Senior Kristin Berretta was the only St. Lawrence player to
break 90 as the 2010 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship got off to a
difficult start for the Saints and many of the other participants on Tuesday.
St. Lawrence
University's women's golf team will make its third straight NCAA Division III
Championship Tournament appearance when the 2010 championships begin Tuesday,
May 11 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida.
St. Lawrence University's women's golf team slipped one spot
in the final team standings after an outstanding first round in the Williams
Spring Invitational, finishing fourth in the 11-team field on Sunday.
