Saints Open 2010 Ranked No. 2 in National Polls

Sept. 2: The St. Lawrence University women's cross country team is considered amongst the favorites to compete for the 2010 national championship according to the pre-season poll announced on Wednesday from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.  The Scarlet and Brown, who had a runner-up finish in the 2009 NCAA Championships, start the 2010 campaign ranked second in the country, the program's highest national ranking in school history.

2012: Amy had a tremendous second half of her junior season and went on to earn NCAA Atlantic Region and Liberty League Runner of the Year honors. A consistent top three finisher for the Saints from the start of the season, she led the team in the NYSCTC, Liberty League and Atlantic Regional Championships, winning the league and regional individual titles and finishing second in the NYSCTC. She had five top tens and was the Saints' third scorer at the NCAA Championship.She earned Liberty League Runner of the Week honors three times during the season.

2011:   Cymerman showed great improvement in her sophomore season with the Saints as she recorded season-bests in all of the championship races.  She finished fourth at the NYSCTC Championship and also earned Liberty League All-Academic honors.  

Kendra Sultzer '14

2012: A Liberty League All Academic team member, Kendra was 16th in the North Country Five, 59th in the Hoffmann Invitational and 87th in the Liberty League Championships as a junior.


2011:
  Sultzer raced in three events in her sophomore season with the Saints, including the Hoffmann Invitational.  She earned Liberty League All-Academic honors for her efforts in the classroom.  

2010: Sultzer competed in two races during her first season, including the Oneonta Invitational/Pre-Regional and the Hoffmann Invitational.  She finished 22nd at the Hoffmann in 25:27, and ran 24:22 at Oneonta.

At Strath Haven

Sultzer was a tri-sport athlete, having competed in Cross Country, Track and Field and Soccer. The Swarthmore, PA native won the cross country squad's "Team Award" in 2009 as well as the high school's "Scholar Athlete Award." A member of the National Honor Society, Kendra was the recipient of the Chatham College Book Award.

Saints Own No. 1 Slot in Atlantic Regional Pre-Season Rankings

Aug. 26: The St. Lawrence University women's cross country team, which finished second in the 2009 NCAA Championship race, has earned the top spot in this season's Atlantic Regional Pre-Season ranking.  It is the first time in program history that the Saints have achieved the No. 1 slot in the pre-season.

Kate Sneden '14

2012: Kate ran in the Liberty League Championships, finishing 57th. She also earned Liberty League All Academic honors.

2011:  Sneden raced in the Cardinal Classic in her sophomore season at St. Lawrence.  She earned Liberty League All-Academic honors.  

2010: Sneden raced in two events during her rookie season, the Oneonta Invitational/Pre-Regional and the North Country Five Meet.  She finished in ninth place at the North Country Five Meet and ran 24:59 at Oneonta.

At Stillwater Area High

Sneden was a multi-sport athlete, competing in Cross Country, Nordic Skiing and Track and Field. The Stillwater, MN native, who graduated with honors, captained the cross country team and was a two-time All-Conference honoree.

Katie Mannix '14

2012: Katie had a top finish of sixth in the 5K North Country Five meet and was 27th at Plattsburgh. She also had a 51st place finish in the Hoffmann Invitational, was 53rd in the Liberty League and 116th in the NYSCTC Championship. She earned Liberty League All Academic honors.

2011:   Mannix competed in five events in her sophomore season with the Saints, including the conference and state championships.  She earned Liberty League All-Academic honors for her efforts in the classroom.  

2010: Mannix raced three times for St. Lawrence in her first season, including the Hoffmann Invitational, Pre-Regional and North Country Five Meet.  Katie had fifth place finish at the North Country Five Meet and a 24th place showing at the Hoffmann.

At Queensbury

Mannix was a decorated student-athlete, participating in Cross Country, Nordic Skiing and Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. A member of the National Honor Society, Katie helped the school's cross country squad to sectional and state titles.

Toria Koutras '14

2012: Toria had a career best 15th place finish in the Liberty League Championship a s ajunior and also had a top 20 finish at the Plattsburgh Invitational to start the season. She ran in five races as a junior.

2011:   Koutras raced in six events as a sophomore, including the Liberty League Championship where she fnished a career-best 21st in the event.  

2010: Koutras competed in four events during her first season at St. Lawrence, including both the league and state championship races.  Her best time of 23:56 came at the Pre-Regional race at Oneonta, while her best finish was 17th at the Hoffmann Invitational.

At Keene

Koutras participated in a variety of sports, including Track and Field, Nordic and Alpine Skiing, Field Hockey and Tennis. A member of the National Honor Society, Toria captained the field hockey and alpine squads and was the ski team's Most Valuable Performer for four seasons.

Ariel Beccia '14

2012: While hampered by an injury late in the season, Ariel had an outstanding junior season for the Saints with three top ten finishes. She was consistently among the scorers for the Saints and had a career best sixth place finish in the NYSCTC Championship and was the fifth Saint scorer in that race. She earned Liberty League All Academic honors.

2011: Beccia was fourth at the North Country Five race and 28th in the Liberty League Championships.  The Rutland, MA native earned Academic All-Conference honors and will serve as a co-captain for the upcoming 2012 season.   

2010: Beccia was a solid addition to the Saints' roster in her rookie season.  The Rutland, MA native competed in four events, including the Liberty League Championship race where she finished with a season-best 18th place.  Ariel had a season-best time of 23:32 at the Paul Short Invitational, where she rounded out the team's scoring.

At Wachusett Regional
Beccia competed in Cross Country and Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. The Rutland, MA native captained all three squads and was a three-time Most Valuable Performer for the cross country team. A two-time All-District selection for cross country, Ariel was a member of the National Honor Society and both the French and Math Honor Societies.

2012: A Liberty League All Academic selection, Kelsey ran in six races for the Saints as a junior with a top finish of 13th in the Plattsburgh Invitational. She was 29th in the Liberty League championship and 45th in the NYSCTC race.

2011:
  Leder competed in five races as a sophomore, including the Liberty League Championship where she placed 54th.  She earned Academic All-Conference honors for her efforts in the classroom.    

2010: Leder worked her way into the Saints' line-up at both the NCAA Championship and Regional events.  She competed in seven races, with her best finish coming at the Hoffmann Invitational (14th).  Leder's best time of the season was 23:13, which came at the Pre-Regional at Oneonta.

At Niskayuna

Leder was a tri-sport athlete, competing in Field Hockey and Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field. A member of the National Honor Society and recipient of the Medal of Academic Excellence, Kelsey was a two-time All-Star for field hockey and won the "Coaches Award" for track.
