Saints Hold Off Bombers, 67-45

Senior Katie Palmer and sophomore Abby Stanton each tallied a game-high 22 points and combined for 20 rebounds to steer the St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team to a 67-45 victory in their final game of 2008 over Ithaca College in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Burkman Gymnasium.

 

The Scarlet and Brown improve to a 5-2 overall record, while the Bombers fall from a .500 mark to a record of 4-5 for the season.

Edgerton Guides Saints To Norwich Title, Edge Cadets 74-68

Rookie Katherine Edgerton scored a team-high 16 points while four others posted double-digit figures as the St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team defeated host Norwich, 74-68 to win the 2008 Ed Hockenbury Classic championship Saturday afternoon at Andrews Hall.

The Saints have now won three games in a row and improve to 4-2 on the season, while Norwich loses its second game of the year and fall to a 4-2 mark.

Palmer Scores Season High, Saints 59-45 Win Over Maine Maritime

Senior forward Katie Palmer posted a season-high 27 points in just 25 minutes of play to help the St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team cruise to a 59-45 win over Maine Maritime Friday night at the Ed Hockenbury Classic, hosted by Norwich University in Northfield, VT.

With the win, St. Lawrence improves to a winning 3-2 record, while the Mariners fall to 1-4 in the season.

Four Saints Score In Double Digits In 63-53 Win Over Plattsburgh State

St. Lawrence University sophomore guard Abby Stanton recorded a team-high 17 points and junior Brittany Parham, senior Jenna Krzemien and rookie Katherine Edgerton all scored in double digits to lead the St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team to a 63-53 win over Plattsburgh State in the Saints’ 2008-09 home opener at the Burkman Gymnasium.

Bears Upend Saints, 50-43

Senior Katie Palmer scored a game-high 18 points and led a comeback that included an 18-3 run in the middle of the second half, but it was not enough for the St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team, who fell to neighboring Potsdam State 50-43 in North Country action Tuesday evening in Potsdam, NY.

The Scarlet and Brown fall to 1-2 in their 2008 campaign, while the Bears improve to a 1-1 record.

Krzemien Named To All-Tournament Team

The St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team defeated Pine Manor College 73-34 in the consolation game of the second annual Amherst College Invitational Tournament Sunday afternoon in Amherst, MA.

The Saints split the weekend and improve to 1-1 on the year, while the Gators fall to 0-2.

Lehman Edges Saints In Double Overtime Thriller, 69-64

After 50 minutes of battle, the St. Lawrence University women’s basketball team fell to Lehman College in the second annual Amherst College Invitational 69-64 in double overtime Saturday night in Amherst, MA.

The Saints fell 0-1 in their 2008-09 campaign, while the Lightning earned their third straight win heading into the championship game tomorrow afternoon where they will face Amherst College, the winner of the other contest. St. Lawrence will play Pine Manor Sunday afternoon for third place in the tournament.

SAINTS PREPARED FOR ANOTHER WINNING SEASON

Nov. 15: After over a month of training and preparation, the St. Lawrence women's basketball team will walk out onto the court for the first time in the 2007-2008 campaign this upcoming weekend in the Stevens Tip-Off Tournament in hopes of getting off to a strong start in the season.
