Saints Go 2-2 In Final December Matches

The Saint men's squash team closed out pre-Christmas play with a split of four matches at Wesleyan and Williams Friday and Saturday, beating Connecticut College and Wesleyan handily, dropping a tight match to Navy and losing 9-0 at 10th-ranked Williams.

Saints Finish Second To Rochester in Liberty League Tourney

St. Lawrence University's men's squash team began its 2009-10 intercollegiate season with a solid showing in the 2009 Liberty League Squash Championships, finishing second at the Robie Squash Center on Sunday.

Saint Men Down Toronto 9-0 in Exhibition Match

St. Lawrence University's men's squash team tuned up for next weekend's Liberty League Championships with a 9-0 exhibition win over the University of Toronto at the Robie Squash Center Saturday afternoon.

2012: Amay went 8-5 after returning from the first semester abroad in his junior year, winning eight in a row upon his return. He was 1-5 at five, 1-0 at six, 5-0 at eight and 1-0 at nine.  An economics and mathematics combined major, he is a two-time Liberty League All-Academic selection and also earned Dean's List honors.   The Mumbai, India native is a member of Pi Mu Epsilon.

2011
: Amay earned All Liberty League honors for the second straight year, going 10-13 as a sophomore. He was 3-3 in the one spot, 7-8 at two and went 0-2 in CSA Individual Nationals. He was a Liberty League All Academic selection and a CSA Scholar-Athlete.

2010:
Amay earned Liberty League Rookie of the Year and first team all league honors in his first season of intercollegiate squash and became the second Saint player in program history to win the Molloy Consolation Championship at CSA Individual Nationals. Merchant went 2-5 in the one slot and 6-9 in the two position in addition to going 4-1 at Nationals for a 12-15 overall record.

At Tabor Academy:
Amay was MVP and captain of the squash team and was Most Improved Player in tennis.

Saints Sweep Exhibition Matches with Queen's, McGill

 

St. Lawrence University's men's squash team tuned up for the upcoming season with wins over McGill and Queen's in a set of exhibition matches at the Robie Squash Center on Saturday.

Pearson Reaches Consolation Semifinals at Individual Nationals

St. Lawrence University junior Nick Pearson advanced to the Molloy Division consolation semifinals in the College Squash Association individual nationals at Williams College last weekend.

Chris Abplanalp

The most successful squash coach in St. Lawrence's history, Chris Abplanalp has completed nine seasons at the helm of the men's and women's programs after taking over in December of 2004.  

Abplanalp, a five-time Liberty League Coach of the Year, led the 2012-13 men's team to its first-ever appearance in the Potter Cup Championship at the College Squash Association Nationals where it finished sixth in the nation, the program's highest ranking ever.  The historic season also featured St. Lawrence's first CSA individual champion and All-American in Amr Khaled Khalifa and an unprecedented victory over Cornell University. 

Abplanalp has coached nine Liberty League major award winners and his players have been named All-Conference 45 times.  The women's program continues to improve with a youthful roster and has reached as high as 12th nationally in 2005. 

In addition to coaching squash at St. Lawrence, Chris is also a coach with Squash and Beyond World, working with young players, as well as professional players and coaches on international tours around the world.  He is also a member of the CSA Executive Board. 

A Canton, NY native, Chris graduated from Connecticut College, where he was an All-American and two-sport student-athlete.  Prior to being named the Saints head squash coach, he spent several seasons as the assistant men's lacrosse coach at St. Lawrence.
