The St. Lawrence Track and Field Camp and High Performance Distance and Cross Country Camps are open to all boys and girls (ages 12-18) with an interest in track and field and/or High Performance cross country/distance running.
Cross Country Camp Features:
-- Instruction in all aspects of cross-country/ high performance distance running
-- Instruction in all aspects strength training
-- Instruction in injury-prevention and alternative/water training programs
-- Nutrition Anaylsis and discussion
-- Individual evaluation forms
-- Guest lectures
-- Camp race and closing ceremonies on Friday morning!
In addition to the St. Lawrence University track and field staff, the camp will also feature a number of premiere high school and collegiate track coaches from across the Northeast.
Resident campers will receive a camp T-shirt, overnight supervised housing, all-you-can-eat meal plan and a complete camp program. Commuter campers will receive a camp T-shirt, all you can eat lunch and a complete camp program (8:15 a.m.- 4:45 p.m.).
Meet the Coach: Mike Howard, Director of Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field at St. Lawrence University
Director of Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track and Field Mike Howard is in his 20th season working with the programs. Howard also serves the Athletic Department as an Associate Athletic Director.
Howard, a 1987 St. Lawrence graduate, has earned several prestigious coaching honors, including the United States Track Coaches Association NCAA Division III Cross Country District Coach of the Year as well as NYSCTC and Liberty League Coach of the Year honors.
He has served as president of the New York State Collegiate Track and Field Conference which oversees the state meets in cross country and indoor and outdoor track. He was a standout in both cross country and track as an undergraduate and remains active as a runner. He was a three time competitor in the NCAA Cross Country Championships and was a consistent scorer for the Saints in the distance races in both indoor and outdoor track.
