Six Saints Earn Liberty League Weekly Honors

Dec. 6: Six St. Lawrence University student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League Monday afternoon for their performances during the last week.
The men's and women's indoor track and field teams opened up their 2011-12 season as they hosted the CanAm Challenge in the Newell Field House on Saturday. Sophomore Adrian Wilson earned "Track Performer of the Week" as he won the long jump at 6.12 meters. Classmate Edbiko Elysee earned "Field Performer of the Week" as he won the shot put with a 12.69 meter throw. Both Wilson and Edbiko led the Saints to a first place season-opening finish.
On the women's side, senior Kiersten Laporte earned "Track Performer of the Week" as she posted a second place finish in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.16. Sophomore Kristen Linder earned "Field Performer of the Week" as she won the shot put with a 10.53 throw and placed fourth in the weight throw. First-year student Eliza Bell earned "Rookie of the Week" as she took the high jump at 1.58 meters and added a fourth place finish in the triple jump. The Saints earned a runner-up finish at the CanAm Challenge.
Rounding out the weekly awards was first-year student Ibriham Khan from the squash team who earned "Rookie of the Week" with his 3-1 win at three over Columbia.
