Nov. 14:  Five St. Lawrence University student-athletes were honored by the Liberty League Monday afternoon for their performances during the last week.

The men's and women's cross country teams posted phenomenal showings at the 2011 NCAA Atlantic Regional race, both earning the team titles.  Senior John Johnston earned "Performer of the Week" as he was the runner-up with a time of 24:53.  His finish helped the men's team earn the team title for the first time since the 2000.

On the women's side, senior Jenna Hulton also earned "Performer of the Week" as she was the top Liberty League runner in the event, finishing in fourth place overall.   She led the Saints to the program's third straight regional crown.

The men's soccer team was also impressive over the weekend, advancing to the NCAA round of 16 with victories over SUNY Maritime and WNEC.  Junior midfielder Sam DeMello earned "Performer of the Week" as he assisted on two of four goals in the 4-0 win over SUNY Maritime, and then scored two goals including the overtime game winner in a 3-2 win against Western New England.

Freshman forward Jeremiah Bunton earned "Rookie of the Week" as he scored his first career game-winner in the Maritime game, and added a second goal later in that game.  The San Diego, CA native also made significant contributions off the bench against WNEC.

Rounding out the weekly awards was junior back Alex Laird who earned "Defensive Performer of the Week".  The Monroe, NY native helped the Saints to their 14th straight shutout in the Maritime game and made several key plays in a 3-2 overtime win over WNE.
