Men’s Soccer, Cross Country Remain Amongst the Nation’s Elite

Oct. 5: The St. Lawrence University men's soccer and men's cross country teams continue to be considered amongst the premier teams in the country in their respective sports. 

Head coach Bob Durocher's men's soccer squad retained its No. 1 ranking in the  National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division III poll for the third straight week after running its record to 10-0-0 with road shutouts of Bard and Vassar.

The Saints face a big test this Saturday when they travel to Geneva, NY to face nationally-ranked No. 17 Hobart College (9-1-0), ranked third in the East Region, in a key Liberty League showdown.

Perennial power Messiah is second in the national poll with Christopher Newport third, Amherst fourth and Trinity of Texas fifth.

Meanwhile, head coach John Newman's men's cross country team enters this weekend ranked No. 11 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association poll.  The Saints, who climbed as high as No. 3 in this year's poll, will host the 2011 Ronald C. Hoffman/Pre-Regional race this Saturday in Canton, NY.
