St. Lawrence in 15th Overall in 2009-10 Directors’ Cup Standings

Apr. 1: St. Lawrence University ranks in the top 5% of 273 qualifying institutions, in the Division III Learfield Sports Directors' Cup standings.

The University is in 15^th place, the highest ranking in school history.

St. Lawrence is the highest ranking Liberty League member in the updated Directors' Cup standings entering the spring, followed by the University of Rochester in 43^rd position.  Other Liberty League institution standings include Hobart and William Smith in 110^th, Rensselaer in 116^th, Skidmore in 119^th, Clarkson in 186^th, Hamilton in 204^th and Union in 271^st.

"This is obviously very exciting for all of us in the Athletic Department," said Margie Strait, St. Lawrence University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.  "To be in the top-15 in the Directors' Cup is a testament to our student-athletes, coaches, staff members, supporting alumni and fans."

St. Lawrence was 16^th after the 2008-09 winter standings, and finished the academic year in 19^th position overall out of 447 Division III schools nationwide.  Winter teams that contributed to this year's point total of 360.25 include men's and women's track and field, men's basketball and alpine and Nordic skiing.
