Sept. 29: Sept. 22: The Liberty League announced its weekly award winners on Monday afternoon, and three St. Lawrence University student-athletes were amongst those honored.

Both the Saints' field hockey and football squads picked up impressive victories over the weekend, and their success was recognized by the conference.  Sophomore Michelle Laframboise was named the league's Co-Defensive Player of the Week for field hockey after the Scarlet and Brown earned crucial wins over William Smith and Rochester.  Meanwhile, senior co-captain Gerard Bryant and first-year kicker Christopher Dris earned weekly accolades after St. Lawrence defeated Merchant Marine to win the Hoffman Cup.

Laframboise tallied a goal and three assists against Rochester to contribute to the Saints' 7-1 win on Friday. On Saturday, the New Haven, VT native played very strong defensively against William Smith, helping St. Lawrence to a 4-3 win over the Herons.  Laframboise shared the honor with Hamilton's Amy Allen.  The weekend sweep kept the Saints tied at the top of the Liberty League standings with Skidmore and Hamilton, all of which boast unbeaten conference records.

Bryant and Dris were both honored for the second time this season by the Liberty League after the win over Merchant Marine.  Bryant is the Co-Defensive Performer of the Week for the second time, sharing the award with John Peters of Union.  The White Plains, NY native had a huge game in the trenches for St. Lawrence, making a game-high 12 total tackles including 4.5 for a loss and three sacks. Bryant's efforts earned him MVP honors in the game for St. Lawrence.

Dris was named the Co-Special Teams Performer of the Week for the first time after earning Rookie of the Week honors after the season-opener.  The New Port Richey, FL native nailed a pair of field goals including a University record-tying 52 yard kick on his first collegiate field goal attempt. Dris also added a 31-yarder and five extra points in the winning effort.

It will be an action-packed week in Canton, NY, as the women's soccer team, women's tennis squad, volleyball team and men's and women's ice hockey squads host games.  Women's soccer will host Clarkson on Thursday afternoon and Nazareth on Saturday, while the women's tennis team faces Cortland on Friday.  The volleyball squad will face Clarkson and Oswego State on Friday and Saturday, respectively, while the hockey teams have exhibition games on Saturday and Sunday.  The women lace up their skates to face McGill on Saturday while the men follow on Sunday against Toronto.
