Bell Wins ECAC High Jump, Joins Stine in NCAA Field

Eliza Bell won the high jump with a leap of 1.69 meters, a St. Lawrence record and Divya Biswal improved her own St. Lawrence record and moved into the top 20 for the upcoming NCAA Championships in the triple jump on Thursday at the ECAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships at RPI while Carly Stine improved her seed time by .02 of a second with a second place finish in the 400 intermediate hurdles on Friday.
Bell's jump improved the 15-year old Saint record by over a half meter in the event and put her in the top ten nationally.Bell is now the holder of both the indoor and outdoor records and will join Stine as SLU representatives at the NCAA Championships
Biswal's 11.73 meter jump placed third in the competition and moved her into contention for an NCAA Division III championship invitation, but she missed by one spot, finishing with the 23rd best distance nationally. The fields for the NCAA meet will be determined by standings after various Friday meets. The top 22 performers in each women's event will be eligible to compete in the championships with ties broken by second best performances. Stine, who ran 1:02.46 on Friday was in 19th on the national list and held that position to make the NCAA field.
In other competition at the ECAC meet on Thursday, Elizabeth Edwards finished 17th in 18:07.38 and Ariel Beccia was 19th in 18:15.18 in the 5000 meters and McKayla Nuffer finished 10th in 38:27.23 in the 10,000 meters.
Kristen Linder was sixth with a 12.31 meter throw in the shot put on Friday while Jessica Marini finished ninth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.43.
