Miller, Weinstein Win B Draw Doubles at Mary Kosking Invitational

Sep. 9:  The duo of sophomore Samantha Miller and first-year student Suzanne Weinstein captured the B draw doubles title at the Mary Hosking Invitational in Geneva, NY on Sunday. 

Miller and Weinstein won all three of their matches today en route to the tournament title.  In the quarterfinal, they topped Casey Nicoletti and Kate O'Connor (William Smith) 8-5 before beating Katie Drinkwater and Kathleen Kennedy (William Smith) 8-6 in the semis.  In the championship match against Hayley Brower and Janice Zhao (UR), the they won by an 8-6 decision. 

Senior captain Shannon Murphy and sophomore Anna Young defeated Marni Blumenthal and Laurel Salladay (Ithaca) 8-2 in the quarterfinal of the main draw before falling in a tight 9-7 match to Alison Tepas and Alex Vizgaitis (Nazareth). 

Yesterday, Murphy and sophomore Elkie Vandenbeemt advanced in the main singles draw, but were each topped by opponents from Ithaca today in the semifinals, 8-0.

St. Lawrence will host Hamilton on Tuesday, Sept. 18 at 4:00pm at the Sammis Tennis Courts before competing at the ITA Championships in Geneva, NY.
