Saints Finish Third in Epps Cup

Brigitte Tousignant '15 went 2-1 on the weekend for the Saints.

Feb. 15: The St. Lawrence University women's squash team, ranked #28 nationally, went 2-1 on the weekend to earn a third place finish in the Epps Cup of team nationals in New Haven, CT.  The Saints defeated #30 Georgetown by the score of 7-2 in the first day before losing to #27 William Smith, 6-3.  St. Lawrence topped #26 Boston College in the final day by the score of 7-2 for the third place finish. 

On Sunday, Brigitte Tousignant topped Lilly Havens 3-0 at one (11-9, 11-6, 11-2), and Frances Robinson earned a 3-1 win at two over Cassandre Burke (5-11, 11-8, 11-5, 11-9).  Val Quan lost a tight 3-2 match against Caroline Whelan at three (11-9, 6-11, 11-4, 5-11, 11-5).

Sarah Neilson beat Mary Aidan Hanrahan at four 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-4) and Brittany Coxe defeated Madeline Bette 3-0 at five (11-8, 11-8, 11-4).  Corey McHugh was edged by Alison Johnston at six, 3-2 (9-11. 11-6, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6).  

At seven, Parker Benedict was victorious over Caroline Kulig 3-2 (8-11, 11-1, 10-12, 11-1, 13-11), while Carolyn Fisher swept Allie Goguen at eight (11-8, 11-4, 11-6).  Liz Levering rounded out the Saints' scoring at nine with a 3-1 win over Abigail Regan (11-13, 11-2, 11-9, 11-8), while Bobbi Lesser earned a 3-0 exhibition win over Kristy Barnes (11-7, 11-2, 11-1).  

Quan, Benedict and Levering earned wins against William Smith for St. Lawrence.  Quan beat Olivia Beckwith at three, 3-2 (9-11, 11-8, 11-7, 6-11, 11-8), Benedict beat Erin Casey at seven, 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-9), and Levering beat Hannah Meyer at nine, 3-0 (11-3,13-11, 11-9).  

Against the Hoyas, Tousignant swept Chloe Fross at one (11-4, 11-4, 11-4) to lead the Saints, while Robinson earned a 3-1 win over Kristen Craddik at two (11-3, 8-11, 11-7, 11-2). At four, Neilson beat Caroline Palmer 3-0 (11-8, 11-4, 12-10), and Coxe battle back from a game down to beat Betsy Johnson 3-1 (5-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-5).

Benedict was victorious at seven by the score of 3-2 against Katia Dasilva (11-9, 7-11, 11-7, 2-11, 11-8), Fisher came back from a game down to beat Lindsay Weil 3-1 at eight (9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 11-7), and Levering rounded out the Saints' scoring with a sweep of Molly McShen at nine (11-7, 11-7, 11-3).

Quan was defeated in tight 3-2 match to Carolyn Meister at three (11-6, 12-10, 12-14, 10-12, 11-3), while McHugh lost 3-0 to Lindsay Kolavich at six (16-14, 11-5, 11-3).
