Emily DePoy '16 scored the game-winning goal in the Saints' victory on Saturday.

Sept. 29: First-year student Emily DePoy scored on a header in the 83rd minute to give the St. Lawrence University women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Bard College in a Liberty League game on Saturday afternoon in Annandale-On-Hudson, NY. The Saints improve to 6-2-2 overall with a 1-1-1 mark in the league, while the Raptors fall to 4-6-1, 0-1-1.

DePoy headed down a corner kick from sophomore Holly Wark and, as it bounded toward the line, it was nearly cleared by Bard defender Neena Marano, but Marano couldn't corral it in time.  It was DePoy's third goal of the season and Wark's second assist.

Bard had a  chance to tie in the 88th minute, but first-year student Kelsey West made a diving grab in goal on a low shot struck by Bard junior Maddy Huggins at the top of the box.

The Saints, who outshot the hosts 12-5 and held a 6-4 edge in corners, controlled most of the game despite only being able to put one goal on the board. West made five saves for the shutout, while Lena James made six saves for Bard.

St. Lawrence will take on nationally-ranked William Smith on Saturday, October 6 in Geneva, NY.
