Mar. 12: The St. Lawrence University women's lacrosse team completed a perfect southern trip on Friday evening, as junior Kim Morse scored five goals and anchored the Saints to a 15-8 win over Fredonia State in a soggy West Palm Beach, FL.

The victory moved St. Lawrence to 3-0 on the season, the first time since 2005 that the team opened with three wins.  The game was originally scheduled for Friday morning, but was rescheduled to 7:00pm after West Palm Beach, FL was pelted with eight inches of rain.  Despite the weather, the crew at Lake Lytal Park was able to have the field in playable condition for the evening start time.

"I'm very pleased with the way that we played on the spring trip having gone 3-0 in Florida," said St. Lawrence head coach Jodi Canfield.  "I think this should set the stage for our upcoming games against some very tough opponents."

Morse erupted with the five-goal outing, scoring key goals every time Fredonia State tried to make a run at the Saints' lead.  St. Lawrence opened the first half with five straight goals, but the Blue Devils scored the next three to cut the Saints' advantage to 5-3 at halftime.

The Scarlet and Brown would come out strong in the second half, again rattling off the first five goals of the half to extend their lead to 10-3.  Though Fredonia State would try to chip away, the Saints' balanced attack and eight yellow cards on the Blue Devils led to the 15-8 victory.

St. Lawrence will look to continue its winning ways when it returns to the northeast, as it faces Elmira College on Saturday, March 20 in the 2010 home opener at North Country Field at 2:00pm.
